1966 Young Talents, Foxsal Gallery, Warsaw

The Foksal Gallery, established in 1966 in Warsaw, Poland, is renowned for its commitment to avant-garde art. Founded by a collective of artists and critics—including Tadeusz Kantor, Henryk Stażewski, Zbigniew Gostomski, Edward Krasiński, Roman Owidzki, Wiesław Borowski, Anka Ptaszkowska, and Mariusz Tchorek—the gallery has played a pivotal role in promoting radical contemporary art practices.

In its inaugural year, the gallery hosted the “Young Talents” exhibition, showcasing emerging artists of the time. Among the participants was Ewa Gargulinska, a Polish artist who had recently completed her Master of Arts degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1960–1966). Her works from this period were included in the Academy’s archive and featured in the “Young Talents” exhibition at Foksal Gallery.

Gargulinska’s early involvement with the Foksal Gallery marked the beginning of her distinguished career. She later exhibited internationally, including a group show at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London in 1971.
Her works are part of several notable collections, such as the National Museum in Krakow and the Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw.

The Foksal Gallery continues to be a significant institution in the art world, known for its innovative exhibitions and dedication to contemporary art.
